MHT CET CAP 2026 Seat Acceptance Fee Rule Revised

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has introduced a new rule for candidates participating in the MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling process. As per the latest CAP Information Brochure, candidates will now have to pay a higher seat acceptance fee in each subsequent counselling round. Earlier, candidates paid a fixed seat acceptance fee during counselling. However, under the revised rule, the fee will increase from Round 1 to Round 3 based on the allotment. The CET Cell has made this change to streamline the admission process and encourage candidates to make timely decisions regarding their allotted seats.

The revised seat acceptance fee for MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling is as follows:

Candidates who are allotted a seat in a particular CAP round and wish to accept it must pay the applicable fee within the prescribed deadline. Failure to pay the seat acceptance fee may result in cancellation of the allotted seat.

Why Has CET Cell Introduced This Rule?

The new fee structure is aimed at making the counselling process more efficient. By increasing the seat acceptance fee in every round, the CET Cell expects candidates to finalise their admission decisions earlier, reducing unnecessary movement of seats in later counselling rounds.

MHT CET CAP 2026 Counselling Process

The MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling is being conducted for admission to BE/BTech programmes offered by participating engineering colleges across Maharashtra. The counselling process includes online registration, document verification, publication of the merit list, choice filling, seat allotment, seat acceptance and reporting to the allotted institute.

The registration and document verification has concluded and the authorities will announce the provisional MHT CET merit list tomorrow. Candidates can raise grievances, if any before July 25. The final merit list will be released on July 27.
