The NIRF ranking 2026 is awaited. Before the new rankings are released check how BITS Pilani moved from 20th to 11th in NIRF engineering 2025 and what changed in its scores.

NIRF Ranking 2026: BITS Pilani Made a Big Jump in 2025; What Changed?

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has yet to announce the NIRF ranking 2026 at nirfindia.org. While waiting for the new college rankings across various categories, engineering aspirants must take a close look at the previous year's rankings for top institutes such as BITS Pilani. In NIRF engineering ranking 2025, BITS Pilani moved from 20th position (2024) to 11th (2025), gaining nine places. Its overall NIRF score also increased from 63.04 to 67.02 in one year. The jump is worth looking at because the improvement was not limited to one NIRF parameter. BITS Pilani recorded higher scores in four of the five major parameters used for the Engineering ranking.

Q: ย  What is the division of questions in BITSAT pattern?

The BITSAT question paper is divided into four section. For the Mathematics/Biology section, there will be 40 questions. Physics and Chemistry will have 30 questions in each section. Logical Reasoning will have 20 and English Proficiency will have 10 questions. There will 130 questions in the question paper.

Q: ย  How many questions will be present in the BITSAT paper?
A: 

In BITSAT, students have to answer 130 objective questions. Each question will have four options. Correct one has to be selected. If all questions are finished before time, then additional 12 questions will be given to students to solve for extra marks.

Q: ย  How are the BITSAT additional questions divided?
A: 

Students will be given 12 additional questions if they finish all 130 questions within 3 hours. Three questions will be available from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical Reasoning. Students will not be able to go back to previously answered 130 questions, once they start solving additional questions.

From the table above it is visible that the biggest improvement came in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR). BITS Pilaniโ€™s TLR score increased by 8.88 points, from 73.19 to 82.07. Its Research & Professional Practice score also increased from 52.49 to 56.41. The TLR and Research and Professional Practice (RPC) parameters both carry the highest weightage (30%) in the NIRF engineering rankings.

TLR looks at areas such as student strength, faculty-student ratio, faculty qualifications and experience, and financial resources and their utilisation. RPC considers areas including publications, quality of publications, patents and professional practice.

The institute also recorded smaller gains in Graduation Outcomes (GO) and Outreach & Inclusivity (OI). Graduation Outcomes carries a 20% weight and includes indicators related to placements and higher studies, examinations, median salary and PhD graduates. Outreach and Inclusivity carries a 10% weight and covers areas such as regional diversity, women students, economically and socially challenged students and facilities for students with disabilities.
