Along with NIT Goa, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has also been signed between the Norway University and IITs in Indore, Palakkad and Tirupati.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa, collaborated with the University of Agder in Norway with an aim to boost research and innovation in the areas of robotics, offshore mechatronic systems and data analytics, among other areas. Along with NIT Goa, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has also been signed between the Norway University and IITs in Indore, Palakkad and Tirupati. The worth of the project is INR 4 crore. The collaboration is being forged as part of the INMOST project, which is an Indo-Norwegian association in Intelligent Offshore Mechatronic Systems (INMOST).

Talking about the collaboration, professor Linga Reddy Cenkeramaddi from the Norway varsity said, β€œOnly the foremost established and excellent research communities can apply for this INTPART grant and this is highly competitive as the competition is among the world-renowned research centers.”

During the signing of the MoU, the University of Agder, Norway, will be represented by dean Michael Rygaard Hansen, professor Cenkeramaddi, and Maan Singh Sidhu from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi. The Goa institute will be working with the ICT/WISENET Center and Mechatronics Center at the University of Agder, Campus Grimstad, TOI said.

β€œThe project is to establish long-term collaboration between Norwegian universities and institutes, Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Norwegian Research Center and top-ranked Indian universities, including NIT Goa, IIT Indore, IIT Tirupati, and IIT Palakkad,” NIT Goa director Gopal Mugeraya said.

From the University of Agder, the key participants would be Cenkeramaddi and Professor Jing Zhou. The major goals are to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation capacity, solve major societal challenges and developing high-quality academic environments, Cenkeramaddi said. NIT along with University of Agder and other participating institutes obtained this grant by competing with the best research centers across the globe.
