NIT Rourkela Launches 2 New BTech Courses for 2026 Admissions; 50 Seats Available Through JEE Main

NIT Rourkela has introduced two new BTech courses starting this year. These courses have been launched to equip students with future-ready skills in emerging technology domains such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, semiconductor systems, advanced computing, and scientific innovation. The move is in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises research-oriented learning.

BTech in Mathematics and Computing Programme

The Department of Mathematics will offer the BTech in Mathematics and Computing programme. The curriculum will combine mathematics, computer science, and data-driven technologies. Students enrolled in the programme will study subjects such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, cryptography, data structures, algorithms, numerical analysis, and statistical modelling.

The first batch of the programme will have anย intake of 25 students. Admissions will be conducted through JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling.

BTech in Engineering Physics Programme

Meanwhile, the newly launched BTech in Engineering Physics programme will focus on advanced scientific and technological fields, including semiconductor devices, photonics, nanotechnology, quantum technologies, optoelectronics, materials science, cryogenics, astronomy, and space technology.

The Engineering Physics programme will also admit 25 students in its first batch through JEE Main 2026.

Apart from the two BTech courses, NIT Rourkela has also launched two new MTech programmes - MTech in Semiconductor Devices and Technology, and MTech in Machine Learning and Signal Analysis - with admissions through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
