No Relaxation in 75% Criteria says IIT Roorkee

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has denied for any relaxation in minimum 75% criteria in class 12 for admission to IITs. Several students have asked for a one time relaxation in minimum marks required in class 12 for admission in IITs due to on-screen marking issue in CBSE. In response to the request raised by students, IIT Roorkee has replied- β€œwe are in close touch with CBSE and will try to resolve this for all those affected candidates on priority. However, no relaxing in marks as candidates from 36 different boards are participating. We published this criterion almost in December and last year there were candidates lost IIT/NIT seats mainly due to percentages. Hence, lowering is not possible.”

The counselling for admission to IITs has started on June 2. All qualified candidates have to register at Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal for admission. JoSAA is the common counselling for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs. The criteria of 75% marks in class 12 is applicable to other participating institutes of JoSAA as well besides IITs.
