NTA to Release Cutoff to Qualify for JEE Advanced 2025 with JEE Main Result by April 17; Details Here

NTA will release the JEE Main 2025 result on or before April 17. Along with the result, NTA will mention the cutoff for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam in the scorecard of the candidates. Candidates qualifying the cutoff will be able to register for IIT JEE Advanced from April 23.
The eagerly awaited JEE Main 2025 session 2 results are expected to be announced by April 17. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will also share the JEE Main All India Ranks and the JEE Main 2025 cutoff percentile needed for the JEE Advanced 2025. The JEE Main 2025 AIR and cutoff scores will be determined by comparing the highest scores achieved by candidates in both the January and April exam sessions.
Cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025 with JEE Mains Session 2 Result
Candidates will be able to find out their eligibility for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam by checking the cutoff scores on their JEE Main 2025 scorecard for session 2. At the bottom of the JEE main 2025 session 2 scorecard, there will be information about the category-wise cutoff scores needed to qualify for JEE Advanced 2025 based on the first paper (for engineering courses).
These cutoff scores are expressed as percentiles. If a candidate's total JEE Main 2025 percentile score is higher than the cutoff score for their specific category, they will qualify to take the JEE Advanced exam. Once eligible, they can register for JEE Advanced 2025 from April 23 to May 2, and the exam will take place on May 18, which is important for admission to IITs.
How Many Candidates Will Qualify for JEE Advanced 2025?
IIT Kanpur, the organization responsible for overseeing the JEE Advanced 2025 examination, has made an important announcement. They will allow the top 250,000 candidates from the JEE Main 2025 results to qualify for JEE Advanced. Candidates will be selected from different categories: a certain number will be chosen from the general category, as well as specific numbers from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Other Backwards Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Q: What is JoSAA Cutoff?
The JoSAA cutoff is the closing ranks of IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release the cutoff PDF's for all JoSAA counselling rounds at its official website, josaa.nic.in. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will release the round-wise JoSAA cutoffs for various programmes offered by around 114 participating institutes, including the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of International Technology), and GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes). Candidates can visit the official website at josaa.nic.in, click on the “eServices” option on the homepage and then select the “OR- CR ” option. A new page will be displayed on the screen. Candidates need to now select round, institute type, institute name, academic programme, and seat type/ category. Click on the “submit” button and the JoSAA cutoff will appear on the screen.
Q: What are the types of JEE Advanced cutoffs?
There are two types of Joint Entrance Examination Advanced cutoffs - qualifying and admission cutoffs. The qualifying cutoff is relesaed with the result. Last year, the cutoff marks has been 109 marks for the Common rank list (CRL) out of 360 marks. For the GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL rank list the cutoff marks is 98; for SC/ST/Common-PwD/GEN-EWS-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD/SC-PwD/ST-PwD is 54 marks and for Preparatory course rank lists it is 27 marks. The admission cutoff will be released by during the seat allotment process by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The admisison cutoff is released round wise in the form of closing ranks for all courses and categories.

The JEE Advanced 2024 cutoff of the common rank list is 30.34%; 27.30% for the GEN-EWS rank list and OBC-NCL rank list; 15.17% for SC, ST, and PwD rank lists across all categories; and 7.58% for Preparatory course rank lists. Last year the cutoff for inclusion in the CRL was 23.89%; 21.50% for GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL rank list; 11.95% for SC, ST and PWD rank list across categories; and 5.98% for the preparatory course rank lists.
All those candidates who have score above the cutoff marks in their respective category can register for JoSAA counselling for participating in the IIT seat allotment process.
