Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission 2026 to Start from Second Week of May; TNEA Website Updated
Engineering admissions in the state of Tamil Nadu will start from the second week of May 2026. The official website of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), tneaonline.org, has been updated for the 2026-27 counselling session. Check all details below.
TNEA 2026 counselling registration will begin in the second week of May 2026. The detailed schedule containing TNEA counselling 2026 dates will be available in due course on the official website, tneaonline.org. The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai, conducts online TNEA counselling, which is an online centralised state-level counselling admission process. Seats in the counselling are allotted based on 10+2 (plus 2/class12) marks of the candidates.
TNEA counselling includes registration & certificate upload by candidates, allotment of random numbers, verification, release of rank list, choice filling, seat allotment, confirmation of allotment, reporting to College/TFC and payment of fees. The complete process is online, except for the certificate verification process.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is a state-level counselling for admission to BE/BTech, BE (Sandwich) and MTech Computer Science and Engineering (Integrated) courses offered by the Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, and Annamalai University.
Last year, 3,01,026 candidates participated in the TNEA counselling process.
TNAE 2026 Counselling Process and Selection Criteria
. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA 2026 counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics and Chemistry in class 12, which will be reduced to 200 (Maths - 100, Physics - 50 and Chemistry - 50). Based on the marks of the candidates out of 200, the TNEA rank list will be prepared.
The ranks of the candidates in the TNEA merit list will be used for seat allotment process via the centralised TNEA counselling process.
