    How Seat Matrix Influences Cut‑Offs

Seat matrix figures together with applicant numbers act as a key factor in determining TNEA 2026 cut‑off marks, as higher seat availability can lower the required score for a given category.
  • Q&A Icon
    Commonly asked questions
Q:   I had chosen 'Accept and Upward' option in the TNEA counselling. What should I do next?
    A:

All the candidates who are satisfied with the currently allotted seat and have opted for “Accept and Upward” will be given tentative allotment order. They must report to the nearest TFCwithin the date given in the allotment order and pay the tuition fees and submit their original certificates for holding the current seat. Non reporting and nonpayment of fees, will be considered as not willing to join and the allotment order will be cancelled. Such candidates will lose allotted seat and will not be considered for further rounds in counselling. In case no better choice is available in upward movement, then the candidate is confirmed with the previously allotted choice as they have paid the necessary fee in the TFC.

Q:   When will the TNEA counselling process end?
    A:

The TNEA 2026 counselling will end in September 2026.

BE/B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu is done based on the online counselling process called TNEA. There is no state-level entrance exam for admission in Tamil Nadu. Candidates have to register and appear for the online Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA counselling held every year. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200. TNEA 2026 counselling process includes registration, assignment of random numbers, Certificate verifications, rank list publication, and finally the counselling. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees depending upon their confirmation.

Q:   Is it mandatory to confirm my seat in TNEA counselling?
    A:

Yes, candidates have to choose one of the confirmation options in TNEA. If candidates fail to do so, they will be included in the next counselling round.
