TNEA Counselling 2026 Round 1 Choice Filling

TNEA Counselling 2026 Round 1 Choice Filling Starts at tneaonline.org; Allotment on July 24

Candidates eligible for the first round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) can now log in to their candidate portal and fill, rearrange, and lock their preferred colleges and BTech branches before the deadline. The round 1 tentative seat allotment result will be announced on July 24, 2026.

TNEA counselling is conducted for admission to BE/BTech programmes offered by government, government-aided and self-financing engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu. The admission process is completely merit-based and does not involve any entrance examination. Seats are allotted based on candidates' Class 12 marks, community category, rank and the choices submitted during counselling.

TNEA 2026 Round 1 Choice Filling: Steps to Follow

Candidates participating in round 1 must carefully select the order of colleges and branches according to their preferences. They can add, modify, delete and reorder choices any number of times before the choice filling window closes. After reviewing all preferences, candidates should lock their final choices to be considered for seat allotment.

To fill choices, candidates need to:

  • Visit the official TNEA counselling portal.
  • Log in using their registered email and password.
  • Click on the choice filling link.
  • Select preferred colleges and courses in order of priority.
  • Save and lock the final choices before the deadline.

After the Round 1 allotment is released on July 24, candidates allotted a seat will have to download the provisional allotment order and complete the next admission formalities within the prescribed timeline. Depending on the counselling instructions, candidates can accept the allotted seat, opt for upward movement in the subsequent round (if eligible), or choose other available options as notified by the authorities.

The round 1 counselling is being held for TNEA ranks between 1 and 37976. The round 2 counselling for ranks 37977 to 131093 will start on August 3.

  3. You will see a list of category wise rank list PDFs on the screen.
  4. Select the category you belong to.
  5. The rank list will be shown in PDF format on your screen.
Q: Β  What is the TNEA supplementary counselling?
A:
The Tamil Nadu engineering admission supplementary counselling is conducted by TNEA after normal counseling. TNEA Supplementary Counseling process is done for those students who failed their 12th grade. This is done later so that these students can pass and attend admission counselling again. However, anyone can participate in this counselling. TNEA-qualified students can attend this counselling even after getting a college allocation and making a fee payment if they want to change colleges. This supplementary counselling process is done after the 4th round of TNEA counseling. Also, those students who had joined other courses, such as arts, but now want to change to engineering can attend this counselling to get into an engineering college. The procedure is similar to regular TNEA counseling, and you just have to register again after the date announcement.
Q: Β  How will I know in which TNEA counselling round I belong to?
A:

Candidates have to refer to the TNEA counselling schedule on the official website of TNEA. The rounds are classified based on Aggregate mark and General Rank. If the candidate’s general rank falls in between the start and end ranks mentioned against a round, then the candidate belongs to that round. Also cross check the round, by confirming if the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate is within the start and end aggregate marks of that round.
