Will JEE Main Exam Date Change in Case of Clash?

National Testing Agency will conduct JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam from January 21 to 30. NTA has already announced JEE Main exam dates for both Sessions 1 and 2 in advance to help candidates plan their preparation and avoid clashes with other entrance exams. However, many students appear for multiple exams which often raises important question - What happens if two exams are scheduled on same day? 

With JEE Main 2026 approaching, candidates are wondering whether NTA will change their allotted exam date in case of such clash. NTA has clearly stated that it will not change or shift allotted JEE Main 2026 exam date for any candidate due to a clash with another exam.

NTA’s Official Stand on Exam Date Clashes

NTA has been clear on this matter in its past notifications and public clarifications. If JEE Mains exam date or shift assigned to any candidate clashes with another exam, NTA will not change allotted date or shift. In other words, no rescheduling or special accommodations will be provided due to overlapping JEE Main 2026 exam dates with other entrance tests, board exams or institutional exams. Why Does NTA Avoid Changing Dates or Shifts?

• With lakhs of students appearing each session changing shifts for even small group can affect overall seating, logistics and security arrangements. 
• JEE Main dates are announced in advance. Changing dates due to individual requests disrupts this entire system.
• Providing changes for few candidates could create logistical imbalance and raises concerns. 

What Should Students Do If JEE Main 2026 Exam Date Clash Happens?

Since NTA will not adjust exam dates, candidates should

• Be aware of all exam schedules well in advance.
• Plan their applications strategically, avoiding overlaps where possible.
• Choose priority exams if a rare clash is unavoidable.
• Only check official NTA notifications and do not rely on rumours.
