Five Governors Attend JGU Convocation 2025; Over 4,400 Students Graduate

The convocation celebrated the graduation of over 4,400 students from across JGU’s 12 Schools and Institutes.
In a rare and significant moment for Indian higher education, five sitting Governors of Indian states attended the 14th Annual Convocation of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU).
The convocation celebrated the graduation of over 4,400 students from across JGU’s 12 Schools and Institutes, in the presence of distinguished guests including legal luminaries, diplomats, and senior public officials.
The Governors in attendance were Vinai Kumar Saxena (Delhi), Hari Babu Kambhampati (Odisha), Arif Mohammed Khan (Bihar), Justice (Retd.) S. Abdul Nazeer (Andhra Pradesh), and Shiv Pratap Shukla (Himachal Pradesh). Each of them addressed the graduating class, emphasizing values such as service, education-driven nation-building, compassion, and the importance of lifelong learning.
JGU Chancellor Naveen Jindal described the Governors’ presence as “a moment of national recognition” for the university’s journey and its founding vision. He encouraged graduates to lead with integrity and contribute meaningfully to society. Founding Vice Chancellor C. Raj Kumar highlighted JGU’s global collaborations, growing research footprint, and commitment to interdisciplinary education. JGU now hosts over 16,000 students, faculty from 51 countries, and academic ties with 550+ institutions across 80+ countries.
The event also featured remarks from key dignitaries such as Attorney General R. Venkataramani, Competition Commission Chairperson Ravneet Kaur, ASER Centre Director Dr. Wilima Wadhwa, and diplomats from Indonesia and Denmark, who praised JGU’s global outlook and social impact. Danish Ambassador Rasmus Kristensen referenced the university’s new academic partnership with the University of Copenhagen, while Indonesian Ambassador Ina Krisnamurthi called JGU a “beacon” of interdisciplinary and globally rooted education.
