Institute of Hotel Management, Ranchi will provide Japanese language as part of its course in partnership with Tamai Onettom India Private Limited. This initiative aims to connect students with the Japanese language, culture, international education and employment opportunities.

The announcement was done during a cultural event titled “Japan Fest”, organised at the institute’s campus.

Dr. Bhupesh Kumar said: “In light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Japan, having set a goal of investment of 10 trillion yen in India over the next decade, we foresee a surge in opportunities across various sectors. Our goal is not merely to train students in hospitality but to nurture them as global citizens.”

He further stated that IHM Ranchi is the first hotel management institute in India to officially integrate the Japanese language course into its academic framework.

He elaborated that this initiative will enable students to tap into the expanding tourism and hospitality sectors and enhanced job prospects.

As per a release by the institute, the course is specifically designed to prepare students for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N5 level, thereby equipping them for higher education and employment opportunities with globally reputed organisations. “JLPT is an internationally recognised examination that assesses the language proficiency of non-native speakers,” it states.

Programme coordinator Hena Kumari said: “This course will not only teach students the language but also provide them with a profound understanding of Japanese culture, etiquette, and traditions — all of which are essential for working in any international environment.”
