NEP 2020 will end Student drop-out system with flexible Entry and Exit, Jitendra Singh
NEP 2020 is the policy to unleash creative and innovative capabilities of youth
To renovate Indian education for reaching the global benchmark it is important to work on Quality control, which needs due attention; NEP gives weightage to skills and talent and also going to end Dropout rate by providing multi entry and exit from the courses. He also advised to link education with livelihood rather than only getting a mere degree. We have lost track of the fundamentals which will be ensured by the New Education Policy, said Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India.
Dr Singh while speaking during an event on National Education Policy 2020 organized by the PHDCCI said that the NEP will end drop out system, as students will be able go back into the education sytem with flexible entry and exit system coming into place.
The minister also said that it is important impart education in mother tongue as it removes the language barrier and allows a child to learn better.
Herculean task to implement NEP 2020
Speaking during the session, Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission, mentioned that India is a big country with lots of disparity and changing dynamics. It is a Herculean task to implement NEP 2020 in a time bound manner. Though framing is over, the real challenge is tangible deliverables and implementation in a time bound manner.
He addressed that major challenge is quality, especially at school level. With education we will not only inculcate growth and economic development but will also develop unity for building progressive and resilient economy, he said.
NEP 2020 has undertaken major reforms that bring the highest quality, equity, and integrity into the system, from early childhood care and education through higher education.
In his presidential address Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI, mentioned that education is fundamental for achieving full human potential and promoting national development. Providing universal access to quality education is the key to Indiaโs continued rise. Universal high-quality education is the best way forward for developing and unleashing the potential of our demographic dividend. It is heartening to note that, added Mr. Multani.
Dr. Manish Kumar, CEO, NABET, Quality Council of India, said that the Indian Education system is one of the biggest education systems in the world. People of different origins through the Indian education system have contributed a lot to science & technology. NEP2020 aims to provide better access with affordability and accountability through a new framework.
He urged all to work together in this direction especially collaboration of industry is very crucial to provide experiential learning to the students.
CBSE Director, Dr. Biswajit Saha emphasized upon pedagogical leadership in which individual leaders will look into classrooms and work on attendance and community inclusion. Earlier more focus was on engineering and management colleges but in New Education Policy schools are also given utmost priority to other subjects too. National Education Policy is a foundation stone and has long miles to go.
