UGC asks Universities, Colleges admitting foreign students to register on EducationINdia portal

The University Grants Commission has asked universities admitting or planning to admit foreign students to register themselves on the EducationINdia portal. UGC has also asked universities and colleges to appoint a Compliance Officer to timely update details of foreign students on the portal.

Earlier on April 5, 2022, UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education issued a joint circular informing all the universities and higher education institutions about the EducationINdia portal which has been developed to promote institutions and programmes to international students across the globe.

The two regulatory bodies requested the universities that are admitting or are desirous of admitting international students to register themselves on the portal and generate the unique id.
The UGC has also requested institutions to register foreign students on the portal at the time of admission.

It has also stated that registration of foreign students will be mandatory for the issue of visas to them from the upcoming academic year. “you are once again requested to register your institute on the EducationINdia Portal,” reads UGC Circular.

For the registration of institutions and students, UGC has requested institutions to designate a Compliance Officer in their institutes. As per UGC Notice, These officers shall be responsible for the timely updation of the Foreign Student Information System and coordinating other immigration and visa services.
