Yogesh Singh joins as Delhi University Vice Chancellor
"I will work taking all stakeholders together and take all necessary steps for the future growth and development of the institution,β said Yogesh Singh.
Professor Yogesh Singh has joined as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi today. Prof Singh was appointed as the VC of Delhi University on September 22.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University, Prof Yogesh Singh has assumed the charge as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi. The post of DU VC was lying vacant for almost a year as Prof Yogesh Tyagi was removed from his post last year.
The President of India, in his capacity as the Visitor of the University, appoint Singh as VC of DU in September this year.
Prof Yogesh Singh after joining his office issued a statement saying: βI am a team player. I will work taking all stakeholders together and take all necessary steps for the future growth and development of the institution.β
Some of the immediate challenges Prof Singh will have address will be related to solving the huge faculty shortage problem that DU is facing, he will also have to work towards the implementation of various plans DU presented after it was granted the status of an Institution of Eminence (IoE). He will also have to work towards improving the ranking of the university in international rankings, where Delhi University has not been able to break into the top 500 in the world.
Prior to joining Delhi University, Singh was heading one of the leading engineering institutions in the country, DTU. Singh has received his MTech (Electronics & Communication Engineering) and PhD in Computer Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana.
Yogesh Singh is currently serving as the VC of Delhi Technological University and prior to joining DTU, he was serving as the Director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Delhi. Singh has also served as vice-chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda.
