Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced is conducted every year for admission of students to undergraduate engineering courses (BTech) offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Along with BTech, IITs offer admission to various other programmes such as Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Architecture (BArch) through the exam only. After successful completion of dual degree courses, students are awarded both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
To appear for JEE Advanced, candidates have to qualify for the JEE Main 2021 that too with rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates. JEE Main acts as a screening test for the IIT entrance exam and a qualifying exam for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs. Other than being in the top 2.5 lakh qualified candidates of JEE Main, students have to fulfil some other JEE Advanced eligibility conditions to appear in the exam. However, in 2020 and 2021, the eligibility requirements related to academic qualifications were relaxed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
