The Maharashtra government has announced a complete fee waiver for students who lost their parent to COVID-19 to ensure their complete their higher education. While announcing the same, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil said "the entire fee till the completion of their education will be waived. With an aim to ensure that such students are not deprived of education."
“The government has decided to waive the entire fee till the completion of the education of the students who have lost their parents during the period, so that their graduation, postgraduation education is not left incomplete.” “It should be strictly implemented this year as well,” he said.
“Keeping in mind the interests of the students, special attention has been given to the universities and aided colleges so that the education of such students is not interrupted,” the minister said.
Last Year, Minister Uday Samant made a similar announcement stating that the annual fees for UG, PG students who have lost one or both parents to COVID-19 will be waived off until they complete their education.
Meanwhile, Mumbai University has finally released the much-awaited Mumbai University revised exam date sheet for the second session; i.e. Winter session that was earlier scheduled to begin on October 10. It must be noted that Mumbai University exams were postponed due to demands by students. Several students raised their concerns over the exam dates clashing with Diwali and also that they need more time to prepare for the exam. Mumbai University agreed to their demands earlier and has now released the revised exam schedule which is now available on the official website of MU; i.e. mu.ac.in.
