The Delhi High Court has rejected a petition filed by test taker seeking cancellation of CAT result 2024 commenting that the court found no reason to interfere with the exam results.
The petition filed in Delhi High Court against CAT 2024 result has been dismissed. The court was hearing the plea moved by a candidate, Aditya Kumar Mallick who claimed that there was an erroneous answer key in the VARC section of the exam, which despite him raising objection was not corrected, thus the CAT result 2024 declared by IIM Calcutta must be cancelled.
The Delhi High Court on January 7 dismissed a petition challenging the results of CAT 2024 for admissions in IIMs and other top management institutes.
Justice Tara Vitasta Ganjurejected the plea and Court said that it found no reason to interfere with the exam results.
As per Aditya Kumar Mallick, answer to Question No. 18 from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section was faulty. Mallick also sought that an expert committee be appointed to ascertain the correct answers.
CAT 2024 exam was conducted by IIM Calcutta on November 24, 2024 and the provisional answer key was released on December 03. About 405 objections were received from candidates against the official CAT 2024 answer key, however, none of the objections were found by the examination committee to be valid.
The petitioner candidate raised an objection to the provisional answer key, contending that there was an error in an answer declared for question no 18 of the English comprehension section of the examination.

The CAT examination body allows candidates to challenge the official answer key. In case a candidate feels any answer shared by the examination body is incorrect, they can challenge it by filling an objection form which is released on the same day as release of the CAT answer key and candidate response sheet. The candidates can fill the objection form by using their CAT login ID and password. Check below: 1. Visit the official website of CAT exam 2. Click on 'Login' 3. Enter CAT login ID and password to sign in 4. Go to 'Objection' tab 5. Click on plus sign to add an objection 6. Check the question number from the PDF of the question paper 7. Enter relevant details 8. Upload supporting document 9. Pay objection fee through credit/debit card or net banking The objection fee is INR 1,200 per objection. Candidates can raise any number of objections. The CAT answer key objection fee will be refunded to only those candidates whose objections will be accepted. Objections that have been submitted once cannot be edited.
