The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), part of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has acquired a five-acre plot of property in New Shillong Township, Meghalaya. This will be IICA's first regional campus, a key step toward expanding its mandate to promote corporate governance excellence and sustainable development in the Northeast.

The new IICA campus is conveniently positioned within Shillong's Knowledge City cluster, which already includes top universities such as IIM Shillong, National Law University Meghalaya, and NIFT. This proximity offers increased academic and professional collaboration.
Donald Phillips Wahlang, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, highlighted the upcoming development of a new airport in Shillong, which will greatly improve connectivity, making the campus accessible to faculty, students, and professionals from all over the country, cementing Shillong's emerging role as an academic and policy center in the Northeast.
PMDevINE Supported ₹100.95 Crore Investment for Northeast Development.
The Shillong campus development is funded by an INR 100.95 crore investment from the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East (PMDevINE). It will function as a regional hub for training, research, and policy advice in crucial areas such as Corporate Governance, ESG, CSR, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Competition Law, and Board Leadership.
Academic and advisory programs to begin within the fiscal year.
IICA intends to establish academic and advisory programs shortly, with construction beginning immediately. The institute has already taught over 300 Northeast professionals and oversees the Independent Director Database, which includes representation from all Northeastern states.
Future Plans: Collaboration with Local Universities and Institutions
Going forward, IICA will collaborate with state universities and other Knowledge City institutions to deliver customized training, policy support, and capacity-building initiatives addressing the region’s unique socioeconomic needs.
