National Testing Agency is seeking MHRD's approval to conduct the DAVV CET exam. The varsity decided to approach the agency after facing a spate of controversies in conducting the exam.
Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore has approached the National Testing Agency (NTA) to administer DAVV CET 2020. Given the smallscale of the entrance exam, the agency is seeking MHRD’s approval to conduct the test. The varsity decided to reach out to the agency after it was marred by a spate of controversies in conducting the online exam. The NTA conducts a host of entrance exams including JEE, CMAT, IIFT, UGC-NET, GPAT among others.
Recently, the varsity conducted DET (Doctoral Entrance Test) for Ph.D. admissions and received flak for failing to adhere to Ordinance 14. Last year, more than 1300 candidates could not take DAVV CET due to technical glitches leading widespread protest from parents and students alike. DAVV CET for undergraduate courses was delayed by more than one and half hours whereas the examinations for postgraduate programmes were cancelled on June 24, 2019. Earlier, In 2017 too, DAVV CET was in the news after students alleged tampering with scores.
If the varsity gets a go-ahead from the ministry, it will only have to provide the course, number of questions and format to the NTA to conduct the entrance exam. In case, the proposal does not materialize, the varsity will not approach a private agency to oversee the test rather it is likely to approach MP Online to conduct the entrance exam. DAVV CET is conducted for admissions to UG, PG and Research-Level programmes, offered at the varsity and its affiliated colleges across Madhya Pradesh.
