The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai had announced the schedule for the Online Personal Interview (OPI) and TISS Management Aptitude Test (TISSMAT) in the first week of April. While the OPI was scheduled from April 27 to May 7, the TISSMAT round was scheduled on May 8. However, on April 15, the institute announced that the OPI and TISSMAT processes have been deferred till further notice. In an official statement, TISS Mumbai has stated that the deferment has taken place in the wake of the increase in the COVID-19 cases across the country.

TISS stated, β€œConsidering the surge in coronavirus infections across the country, Online Personal Interviews (OPI) for Masters admission at TISS scheduled on 27 April to 07 May 2021 has been deferred till further notice. Revised date for OPI will be announced subsequently.”

The statement further added, β€œAs far as the Programme Aptitude Test (PAT) and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for Masters Admissions and Research Aptitude Test for Doctoral Admissions scheduled for 8 May 2021 are concerned, any change in the date will be announced soon upon assessment of the situation and relevant government guidelines on the matter.”

TISSNET 2021 exam was conducted on February 20 at over 100 test centres located across 39 cities of India. The TISSNET 2021 result was declared on March 25. It is expected that the final selection process at TISS will be conducted by mid-May or June, depending on the COVID-19 situation.

Incidentally, India reported the highest single-day rise of 2,17,353 new coronavirus infections on April 16. Even though a nationwide lockdown has not been imposed yet, but there has been night curfews and weekend lockdown imposed across states in the country.

National-level entrance exams like NEET PG 2021 (scheduled on April 18) and CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams have been postponed as well to ensure the safety of students.
