Centre Approves 50 MBBS Seats for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical Institute, Confirms LG Sinha
Union Minister J.P. Nadda has approved 50 MBBS seats for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) following the assent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LG Manoj Sinha confirmed in a post on social media platform ‘X’.
SMVDIME MBBS Seat Intake: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, through a post on the social media platform 'X', has notified the approval of 50 MBBS seats at the newly established Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence.
The sanction of 50 MBBS seats at SMVDIME acts as the hope for medical students in Jammu and Kashmir while strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure. The institute will be able to admit its first batch of students in the MBBS programme, fulfilling a long-pending demand of MBBS aspirants across the union territory.
LG Manoj Sinha, in his message, emphasised that the sanction reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to improving healthcare and education opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed confidence that the Union Health Ministry’s support will pave the way for the institute to grow into a premier medical hub in North India.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence has been newly established medical institute across the UT and aims to become a state-of-the-art medical institution offering both academic and healthcare needs to the students as well as the residents of the area.
