Today social distancing and lockdown is the only thing the world is talking about. ‘Namaskaar’ has thus become a very popular gesture to great one another. Propagating this method of greeting and other preventive measures against the novel coronavirus, three postgraduate students have come up with a composition. Dr. Abhishek Shukla, Dr. Ritu Tiwari and Dr. Abhinav Singh, postgraduate students in the King George's Medical University Lucknow, in collaboration with Vineet Shukla have composed a song ‘Namaskaar’.

When asked about the inspiration for this song, Dr Abhishek Shukla says that he wanted to create a song that would help people remember that they need to stay protected from this virus. Dr Shukla asserted that the government is doing everything but the people are also responsible for themselves, and thus need to follow social distancing. He feels that a few captivating lines will help retain these precautions better. The link to their composition has been given below.

Impact of COVID-19 on medical students

While rest of the nation works from home amidst the lockdown, the medical and healthcare professionals serve those in need. Those who have just begun their journey as a healthcare professional get to rest at home, take online classes and prepare for the next term. However, for those who have qualified NEET PG and have taken admissions to postgraduate courses have to report on duty. To pursue a career in medicine, one must appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET 2020—scheduled to be held on May 3—may also be affected by the nation-wide lockdown. However, it is the spirit to help others keeps young medical aspirants going.
