NEET 2026 SC Hearing

National Testing Agency has been slammed by the Supreme Court of India over NEET paper leak controversy 2026. The SC bench spoke sharply to the NTA asking if monitoring systems were already working, how did this massive leak happen in the first place?

Further, during the hearing, Justice P.S. Narasimha questioned Dr K. Radhakrishnan about the extent of recommendation took place following the committee's recommendations. The bench observed that if such a failure had occurred despite monitoring, there must be shortcomings in the monitoring process itself.

"If this failure occurred despite monitoring, there must be some lapse in monitoring," the bench cited.

NEET 2026 SC Hearing: Paper Setting Named as Main Flaw

During the Supreme Court NEET UG hearing, Dr Radhakrishnan explained what went wrong. He stated that the major issue was directly related to the process of setting the question papers. To fix this, Dr K Radhakrishnan committee recommendations included 101 total reforms to protect exam security. Out of these, 60 short-term changes were for 2025-26 exam cycle. Dr Radhakrishnan mentioned that these updates have already brought an improvement in the exam system.  

SC Demands NTA's Accountability

Reportedly, the judges were not satisfied with just promises. The bench noted that the real problem will not stop until NTA takes accountability. They clarified that this does not mean finding one single person to blame. Instead, institutions must clearly state who takes responsibility when things go wrong. 

UPSC Never Had Paper Leak, NTA Needs To Learn

UPSC has never been a situation, you need to learn, Justice Narsimha said during the hearing. He further said that the problem is that most institutions are ad hoc. It's a process that is everywhere in the country. It's not the individual who has the capability but the institution. 

Can't Disappoint Youngsters This Way

During the hearing, SC said that we cannot do this and disappoint the young people who are appearing in the examination.
