The MUHS has asked the state government to offer Rs 5 lakh each as coronavirus insurance to students who will be appearing for the final year medical examination in the state.

With the number of coronavirus cases rising in the state, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has asked the state government to offer Rs 5 lakh each as coronavirus insurance to students who will be appearing for the final year medical examination in the state. The final year examination is set to begin on July 16, 2020.

In a letter to the state government, the Controller of Examinations, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Dr. Ajit Pathak has demanded that the amount to be paid to each student who will be appearing for the offline medical examination in the state.

However, the state government has not responded to the letter yet. Dr. Pathak has assured Maharashtra Students Union (MASU) that the decision regarding the examination will be taken only after assessing the situation. The University has assured that all strict safety measures will be taken to ensure that the students do not face any difficulties.

Meanwhile, MASU has also started an online survey to find out the difficulties medical students will be facing while appearing for the examination. While many of them fear the infection, others find it tough to travel a distance of more than 50 kilometers to appear for the exam.

The varsity has released the time table for final year exams from July 16 to July 27, 2020. Along with the time table, the varsity has also uploaded the guidelines to be followed during exams.

In mid-March, schools, colleges and universities across the country were closed as a preventive measure to contain the coronavirus spread.
