NMC has ordered all medical colleges to deny student leave on May 2-3, 2026. This decision has been made to prevent malpractice in NEET 2026 exam scheduled on May 3, 2026. NMC has reportedly took this steps following past involvement of students in impersonation, cheating and paper leak cases.

NEET UG 2026

NEET 2026 Update: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges to deny leave to students on May 2 and 3, 2026. This decision has been made to ensure the integrity of NEET UG 2026 examination. The instructions direct medical colleges to keep students on campus. However, leave shall only be allowed with exceptions for justified reasons. The decision to deny leave for medical students on NEET exam day follows concerns of student involvement in the previous years' NEET paper leak, cheating and impersonation cases.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   Can I get AIIMS with 550 NEET scores?
A:

The AIIMS accepts NEET scores for admission to the MBBS. Students need to obtain the NEET cut off percentile and scores to get shortlisted for counselling in AIIMS MBBS course. The NEET 2025 cutoff scores for generally category was 686-144. So, a general category student with 550 marks cannot take admissions to AIIMS.

Q:   When will NEET exam city slip 2026 be released?
A:

The NTA NEET UG 2026 exam city slip was released on April 12, 2026. Students can know the allotted exam city through the city intimation slip. The NEET exam centre will be located at the allotted city.

Q:   What is the difference between the NEET city allotment slip and NEET admit card?
A:

The NEET city allotment slip and admit card are different documents. The NEET city intimation slip only informs about the allotted exam city. However, the NEET admit card informs about the allotted NEET exam centre. The admit card also contains the exam day instructions along with the NEET Self-Declaration Undertaking form.

Candidates must take the NEET admit card to their exam centres as without it they are not allowed to take the test. However, students do not need to carry the NEET exam city slip to the exam centre.

The logic behind no leave for medical students is because of NEET 2026 exam date on May 3, 2026. The authorities want to ensure that senior medical students are present on their own campuses and are not available to participate in NEET paper leak, question paper solving or other illegal activities. The board do not want anyone to compromise the entrance exam for new students. The NMC has made it clear that exceptions will only be made for genuine emergencies.
