NEET PG counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee is expected to announce NEET PG counselling dates 2021 after November 23. No official notification regarding NEET PG 2021 counselling schedule has been released yet. The counselling was scheduled to begin on October 25 but it was put on hold by the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has yet to take a final decision regarding the validity of the Centre's decision to introduce Other Backward Class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) for admissions to postgraduate medical courses.

MCC had informed the court in October that it will not start counselling for NEET PG 2021 till the court takes a decision on reservation issue in AIQ seats. The next hearing is scheduled for November 23.

Meanwhile, students have expressed concern over the delay in NEET PG counselling 2021. A group of doctors have taken to the twitter and expressed disappointment over the delay in the counselling process. They have appealed for immediate decision to fix the NEET PG counselling dates 2021. #ExpediteNEETPGCounselling2021 hashtag was found trending on the Twitter.

“It's been a year JRs are working short of manpower! Doctors are now burnt out! We need to bring more doctors into the workforce ASAP!,” one of the doctors said. Venting out anger another user tweeted, “Stop Harassing Junior doctors. Stop Delaying counselling. Stop behaving like Lazy Judges.”

In a major decision in July, the Centre had announced 27 percent OBC and 10 percent EWS reservation in All India Quota seats in admission to PG courses. However, SC expressed doubts regarding the validity of Centre’s decision. The Court also expressed concern over the annual income criteria of Rs 8 lakh for EWS eligibility and directed to put the counselling on hold.

The National Board of Examination had conducted NEET PG 2021 on September 11 and result was announced on September 28.
