NEET PG counselling 2021 has been postponed after the supreme court directed the centre to do so till the former takes decision on implementation of OBC and EWS reservation in AIQ seats. NEET PG counselling 2021 was to begin on October 25.
NEET PG counselling 2021 has been postponed till further order. The counselling was supposed to start on Tuesday, October 25. The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to put NEET PG counselling on hold till it decides the validity of implementation of OBC and EWS reservation in All India Quota seats. A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and B V Nagarathna recorded the assurance given by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) K M Nataraj who was appearing for the Centre.

Nataraj held the opinion that students will be in serious problem if the counselling process goes ahead as scheduled. The court was hearing a petition that had challenged the decision of the Centre to provide 27 OBC and 10 percent EWS quota in AIQ seats.
Earlier, the top court had questioned the decision of the Centre on fixing Rs 8 lakh as annual income criteria for the EWS category. "Mr. Arvind Datar has got the communication which was sent only to the colleges for the purpose of verification of seats. There is one more clarificatory notification which has been issued today. Otherwise, counselling will not begin unless the issue has been dealt with by the court somehow," Nataraj was quoted as saying. As per the original NEET PG counselling dates, the registration for the first round was to start on October 25. The last date to complete the registration was October 29.
The Medical Counselling Committee conducts NEET PG counselling 2021 for admission to 50 percent All India Quota seats. The whole counselling process is conducted online. Candidates have to register and fill application form on the official website to participate in the counselling for NEET PG 2021. MCC conducts two rounds of counselling to fill 12,690 Master of Surgery (MS), 24,306 Doctor of Medicine (MD) and 922 PG Diploma seats. Third round or mop-up round is conducted only when seats remain vacant.
