MCC instructed states to conduct first round of state counselling between Jan 20 to Jan 24.

Doctors in West Bengal has demanded immediate commencement of state NEET-PG counselling. The Central Government, Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) had instructed all states to conduct the first round of state counselling between 20th January to 24th January 2022.

West Bengal is yet to issue notification related to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Post Graduate (NEET-PG) counselling. The West Bengal Doctors Forum has sent a letter in this regard to the Director of Medical Education, Department of Health and Family Welfare, West Bengal, requesting him to commence the counselling process soon.

WBDF wants immediate commencement of state NEET-PG counselling as per the order of the Supreme Court which is already due since 20th January. “Please don't jeopardize the lives of the NEET PG students further,” the letter reads.

On January 07, the SC ordered immediate commencement of NEET-PG counselling. The NEET-PG 2021 counselling has already been delayed by several months due to a court case about the OBC - EWS reservation in all India quota 50% seats, as Supreme Court had given a stay order on counselling.

However, the case was resolved for the time being as SC ordered the immediate start of the process and MCC has resumed counselling. Moreover, MCC had instructed all state counselling committees to conduct the 1st round of state counselling between 20th January to 24th January 2022.
As per the doctors association, while many states have either completed or are conducting the first round of their state counselling, WBMCC has not even published any notification regarding the same.

This has led to tremendous anxiety among the NEET PG 2021 aspirants. The last day to resign from AIQ 1 allotted seat is 3rd February, before which state counselling round 1 result most come. “Otherwise they will have to make a blind choice of either holding or resigning from our AIQ' Seat, without even knowing their own prospects in the state round 1 counselling,” mentions the letter.
The association in their letter have requested in the best interest of the NEET PG 2021 aspirants of the state of West Bengal as well as a genuine endeavour to augment the clinical manpower and hence ensure better healthcare delivery to the public at the large request you to look into the matter expeditiously and complete the same without any further delay.
