MCC has released new NRI quota rules for NEET UG and PG 2026-27 counselling process. Candidates will be allowed to change their status from Indian to NRI or OCI following Supreme Court order. Know who can sponsor, which family members qualifies, and what documents are needed to secure a medical seat.

MCC NEET Counselling 2026

Medical Counselling Committee has announced important information regarding NEET UG counselling 2026 and NEET PG counselling 2026. This notice is for students who want to apply for NRI quota in 2026 counselling session. It is also important for students who want to change their nationality status from Indian to NRI or OCI. MCC, under the direction of the Directorate General of Health Services, has released NRI quota rules for NEET counselling 2026. These rules come after the Supreme Court case from 2008, namely Anshul Tomar vs. State of Madhya Pradesh.Β 

MCC Counselling 2026: Who Qualifies for NRI Quota?

A student falling under below criteria are eligible for MCC NEET counselling under NRI quota:Β 

  • Parents: If a student's mother or father is an NRI.

  • Relatives: If a first-degree relative lives abroad, the student can also apply.Β 

  • Other Relatives: A student can apply for NRI quota if they have a someone who will sponsor them. The approved relatives can be real uncle and aunt from both sides or grandparents from both sides.Β 

The sponsor must write and sign a legal affidavit. This paper proves they are the real guardian.Β The MCC wants all students to look over these rules very carefully.Β
