NIRF Rankings 2025 to Be Announced Today at 11 AM; IIT Madras, IISc, Miranda House, IIM Ahmedabad Led Last Year

NIRF Rankings 2025 will be released today at 11 AM. IIT Madras, IISc, IIM Ahmedabad, AIIMS New Delhi, Miranda House were last year’s toppers across categories.
The Education Ministry will announce the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 Rankings today at 11 am, offering a detailed picture of how Indian higher education institutions are performing across teaching, research, placements, inclusivity, and perception. Over the years, NIRF India Rankings has emerged as a major performance tracker for students and parents to evaluate universities, engineering colleges, management institutes, medical and law colleges and other specialised institutions.
In the year 2024, the NIRF Rankings were announced across 16 categories—Overall, University, Colleges, Research, Engineering, Management (MBA), Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, Law, Architecture, Agriculture & Allied Sectors, Innovation, Open Universities, Skill Universities, and State Public Universities. The NIRF framework provides a broad spectrum that goes beyond technical institutions to cover colleges, agriculture universities, and emerging areas such as skill and innovation-focused institutions.
The medical rankings have also drawn growing attention in recent years, with AIIMS New Delhi consistently topping the list as the country’s premier healthcare and research institute.
NIRF 2024 top performers were:
Overall: IIT Madras
University & Research: IISc Bangalore
Engineering: IIT Madras
Management (MBA): IIM Ahmedabad
Colleges: Miranda House, Delhi University
Medical: AIIMS New Delhi
Law: NLSIU Bengaluru
Architecture: IIT Roorkee
Pharmacy: Jamia Hamdard
The NIRF rankings by the Governement of India are prepared using a methodology that evaluates institutions on five major parameters. These include Teaching, Learning and Resources, which looks at faculty strength, infrastructure, and student-faculty ratio; Research and Professional Practice, which covers publications, patents, and quality of research; Graduation Outcomes, tracking student success through placements, higher studies, and entrepreneurship; Outreach and Inclusivity, which measures diversity, gender balance, and regional representation; and Perception, which captures how institutions are viewed by employers, peers, and the public.
In 2024, the NIRF exercise saw participation from over 8,600 institutions. With competition increasing each year, the 2025 edition is expected to draw attention to whether top performers like IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and AIIMS New Delhi are able to hold their ground, or if other institutions rise to challenge their dominance.
The National Testing Agency announced the NEET 2025 result on June 14, 2025. The NEET 2025 final answer key was released on the same date. Last year, the date of NEET result declaration was June 14, but the result was announced 10 days in advance, on June 4, 2024.
