The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has invited applications for Project 39A Criminal Justice Student Fellowships 2022-23, latest by April 24.

The candidates interested in joining Project 39A Criminal Justice Student Fellowships 2022-23 at National Law University (NLU) Delhi, can apply latest by April 24 up to 11.59 pm. Applicants shortlisted for interviews will be informed within 14 days of the deadline.

The notification says that if a candidate does not hear from NLU Delhi within 10 days, it means that their application has not been successful.

There will be three fellowships for 12 months each. The eligibility criteria as per the notification are III/IV students of an integrated 5-year LL.B. programme or II/III-year students of a 3-year LL.B. programme during the academic year 2022-2023. The stipend of INR 35,000 for the duration of the Fellowship (12 months) is to be offered upon the successful completion of the fellowship.

Criminal Justice Student Fellowships 2022-23 Application Process

Applicants must fill out the online form available here (https://www.project39a.com/criminal-justice-fellowship-2022) and upload three documents including a curriculum vitae, a statement of purpose of not more than 500 words explaining their interest in this fellowship, and a writing sample of not more than 1500 words (exclusive of footnotes) critically commenting on ONE of the following issues:

  • The implications of reverse burden of proof clauses on the presumption of innocence in criminal trials.
  • Section 27 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and its links with custodial violence.
  • Competence to stand trial outlined in Chapter 25 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.

Please note that submissions that exceed the word limit will not be considered.

The formatting guidelines include - submission must be word-processed and in Times New Roman, main text should be in font size 12 and footnotes in font size 10, with 1.5 line spacing, references should be in the OSCOLA style.
