Delhi Government has approved a proposal for a significant hike of nursing interns monthly stipend at government hospitals from INR 500 to INR 13,150, making is first revision in past 27 years.

Nursing Intern Stipend Raised by 2530%: Delhi government has approved a significant hike in nursing interns' monthly stipend at government hospitals. stipend has been raised from INR 500 to INR 13,150 in a recent cabinet meeting. This major hike in Nursing intern stipend marks first revision in 27 years. This decision will benefit nearly 180 nursing interns from three government nursing colleges, including Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

Health Minister Pankaj Singh stated that this long-awaited revision not only meets long-standing demand of nursing students but also brings nursing intern stipend at par with MBBS interns. 

"For 27 years, this issue was ignored. By raising nursing stipend to INR 13,150, we are ensuring that nursing interns receive dignity, respect and support they deserve," he said.

2530% Hike to Strengthen Nursing Workforce

Health Minister also expressed that government envisions this hike to boost student morale, offer financial stability during training, and strengthen state's healthcare workforce. A government note further stated, “Earlier governments ignored this issue for nearly three decades, but under guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, our government has resolved this disparity,” as per media reports.
