Earlier, the state government had declared holidays for all educational institutions in Telangana from January 8 to 16.

Telangana government has announced its decision to extend the holidays for all government, private schools, colleges and other educational institutions until January 30. The order has been released by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao stating that the decision has been taken in a state cabinet meeting due to the increase in COVID-19, Omicron cases in India.

Earlier, the state government had declared holidays for all educational institutions in Telangana from January 8 to 16. However, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the state government decided to extend the holidays. Meanwhile, the Telangana cabinet also decided to introduce the English medium in all government schools in the state from the academic year 2022-23 and regulate fee in private schools, junior and degree colleges.

The chief minister has also directed the state health department as well as the concerned authorities to expedite the COVID-19 vaccination programme. According to reports, 5 crore vaccination doses have already been given in the state and all the eligible persons will be vaccinated soon

During the meeting, the proposal to establish Women's University in the State of Telangana has also been approved by the state education minister Sabitha Reddy. The Cabinet directed the Chief Secretary to come up with full proposals for the next cabinet meeting.

The CMO also informed that as BSc Forestry (Hons) four-year degree course is offered by the Telangana government at the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) in Mulugu, Siddipet district. A decision has been taken to make reservations in various departments under the direct recruitment quota in the recruitment of Forest Department jobs for eligible students.
