Russia-Ukraine war: Kerala CM urges Centre to bring back Indians

The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressing his concern over the ongoing situation in Ukraine has urged the central government to bring back Indian students from Ukraine. There are more than 20,000 Indian students in Ukraine, the majority of them went to study medical education.
Vijayan while speaking in the state Assembly stated that there are reports that war has started in Ukraine. There are students from Kerala in Ukraine. “We've already brought it to the notice of the Centre, it's taking action on it. We will ask the Centre to intensify its actions, he said as reported.
The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine, and the Indian Embassy in Kyiv has issued a fresh advisory where it has advised Indians to remain wherever they are and not travel to Kyiv.
It has also advised all those who are travelling to Kyiv, including those travelling from western parts of Kyiv, to return to their respective cities.
The embassy has requested Indians to maintain calm and remain safe wherever they are, “be it in your homes, hostels, accommodations or in transit,” mentions the advisory.
Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning announced a military operation in Ukraine. Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine adding that Moscow does not plan to occupy Ukraine. Russian President said the military action announced by him will seek to "demilitarize" Ukraine and came in response to threats from Ukraine.
He said: “I have made the decision of a military operation,” in a televised address. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stressed that he tried to reach out to Putin, warning that Kremlin could “start a major war in Europe".
