Candidates with D.El.Ed from NIOS might not be eligible for UPTET 2021; know details
Candidates with a diploma in elementary education from NIOS might not be eligible to sit for the UPTET 2021 exam. Check details below.
While UPTET 2021 notification is expected to be out anytime soon, candidates with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) might not be eligible to apply for the exam.
As per the latest media reports pouring in, the Examination Regulatory Authority in its proposal sent to the government has not included candidates who have completed D.El.Ed from NIOS. The reason is that it is mandatory for candidates to have a minimum two-year teacher-training course in order to be eligible for the UPTET exam. Whereas, candidates completing D.El.Ed from NIOS undergo correspondence course of 18 months only.

Candidates pursuing D.El.Ed from NIOS 12th have expressed dissatisfaction and considers it to be an unfair decision. As per them, the trainees of the course have to mandatorily do the teaching work at schools for six months and therefore, the course at NIOS is of 18 months only.
The candidates are now likely to request the government not to consider this proposal regarding exclusion of NIOS D.El.Ed candidates from UPTET 2021 exam. If the government does not listen, the candidates are likely to take the matter to the court.
