CTET: CBSE Releases Guidelines for PwD Candidates

CTET 2026: Central Board of Secondary Education has released detailed guidelines for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who wish to avail facility of scribe during CTET Feb 2026 exam. Candidates claiming PwBD status under Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 must submit a valid disability certificate in specified format along with a UDID card issued by a competent authority.

Facility of CTET scribe and compensatory time will be provided only to those with benchmark disabilities who face difficulty in writing. Such candidates must produce a medical certificate from a government healthcare institution stating that scribe is essential for them to appear for CTET. Candidates with benchmark disabilities such as blindness, cerebral palsy or locomotor disability both arms affected may avail scribe facility if they choose to do so.

Scribe’s qualification must be at least one class lower than minimum qualification required for post for which exam is being conducted. However, scribe must have passed class 10th or above. PwD candidates who require scribe will be allowed a 20 minute interaction session with scribe one hour before exam begins at centre to assess suitability.

As per government guidelines, eligible candidates using a scribe will be given compensatory time of at least 50 minutes for every hour of exam. Visually impaired candidates will be provided separate question paper in large font. Regular question papers will also be available, and candidates may choose either option.

All differently abled candidates must carry their original disability certificate and produce it at the examination centre. If certificate is not produced before start of exam, candidate will not be allowed to avail scribe or compensatory time facility.
