UPSC 2021 notification will be released soon after the Supreme Court Verdict. The Supreme Court dismissed the petition for the extra attempt and paved the way for the IAS notification 2021. Read further for details as the UPSC eligibility criteria is set to change for this year.

UPSC 2021 notification will be released soon as the Supreme Court dismissed the writ petition for the extra attempt in the Civil Service (IAS) exam 2021. The Supreme Court restricted the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) from issuing the IAS 2021 notification until the outcome of the pending case.

This year, the UPSC and the Union Government were agreed to provide an extra attempt to the candidates who are within the age limit (required for the IAS exam) but exhausted their attempt last year. The candidates who had their last attempt in 2020 but are below the upper age limit for their category.

The UPSC need to change its official notification regarding the attempts. As per the agreed terms, the UPSC will provide an extra attempt to all the candidates who had exhausted their last attempt last year (2020) and who fulfil the age criteria for this year.

The candidates who had exceeded the age limit this year will not be provided an extra attempt in the IAS 2021 exam. The UPSC 2021 notification can mention the special case for the attempt without changing the eligibility criteria and other conditions. The UPSC 2021 notification was to be released on February 10, but because of the pending SC case, the notification was delayed. The IAS 2021 prelims exam will be conducted on June 27.
