UPSC issued clarification for IAS 2019 reserve list. See here details

UPSC released a clarification notice regarding the IAS 2019 reserve list. The commission in its notice said that there is some misleading information circulating in the social media regarding the operationalisation of the reserve list of the Civil Service Exam 2019. The notice was released to clear all the doubts arising in the mind of the candidates and aspirants planning to enter the Civil Service in India.

UPSC reaffirms that it goes by the rules and regulations as notified by the Government of India from time to time. The UPSC follows the rules in conducting all the exams, including the Civil Service(IAS) Exam.

The UPSC releases the IAS result, mentioning the number of candidates in each of the categories. The IAS result notice mentions the number of candidates recommended against the number of vacancies. There are a certain number of candidates who qualify in the unreserved vacancies even they belong to other reserve categories because they secure more marks and claim the seat under the unreserved category.

UPSC maintain a reserve list along with the list of recommended candidates for all the categories ranking below the last recommended candidate in the merit order. The candidates are recommended as per the procedure prescribed under the sub-rule 16(4) of the Gazette notification of Civil Service Examination, 2019.

After the exercise of such an option by the reserve category candidates, the resultant vacancies arise because of the category movement of the candidate These vacancies are filled by the reserve list. The Government of India through the Ministry of Personnel sends the requisition and UPSC releases the recommendation list of the candidates from the reserve list.

UPSC for the first time issued such statement for clarifying the reserve list process. After the IAS result 2019 also, UPSC released one such notice about the number of recommended candidates against the vacancies.
