The candidates can see here the section-wise question breakup in the UPSC prelims question paper. The UPSC 2024 cutoff is expected to increase by 10 to 15 marks in comparison to last year.

The UPSC returned to its old fold of answer options. There were around 10 questions where the elimination can be done. The marks secured in the UPSC General Studies paper will decide the result of the candidates. The candidates are required to breach their category cutoff to qualify the UPSC IAS prelims exam 2024. Q:   How many vacancies are there in the IAS 2023 exam?

A:
The Union Public Service Commission UPSC notified 1,105 vacancies in the IAS 2023 exam. The Commission will conduct the IAS prelims 2023 exam on May 28. These vacancies are the highest in the last six years. It does not change the number of IAS and IPS recruited this year also. There will be 200 IPS officer posts and 180 IAS officer posts in the exam. The higher vacancies imply a low cutoff at each stage of the IAS examination. The IAS vacancies have a motivational value as it drives a higher number of application forms which makes the exam more difficult.

IAS Prelims Cut off

The General Studies paper 2 of the IAS prelims exam was made qualifying in 2015 and its marks are not considered for the IAS prelims merit and cutoff. IAS prelims serve as the screening exam for the successive stage. But sometimes even the deserving candidates are filtered out even by the margin of one mark. So the candidates are advised to do IAS preparation with full concentration to cement their place.

Following is the IAS prelims cut-off trend over the years.

IAS Cutoff 2022

IAS Cutoff 2022 was released by the Commission in May 2023. The Union Public Service Commission released the IAS cutoff 2022 for prelims and mains examination in the cutoff pdf. The candidates can see here the IAS prelims and mains cutoff 2022. With the help of IAS answer key, the candidates can calculate their marks and compare their marks with their category cutoff. For the unreserved category, the IAS prelims cutoff was 88.22 marks. For the same category, the IAS main cutoff 2022 was 748 marks. The final UPSC Cutoff 2022 for the selection in the IAS exam 2022 was 960 out of 2025. The IAS cutoff 2022 has been increased for all the major categories by approximately 2 marks in spite of the higher number of categories.

IAS cutoff 2022 will be released shortly. The IAS cutoff is the mark of the last selected candidate in a particular category. The Commission arrives at the cutoff marks after arranging the candidates in the order of their merit and selecting the required number of candidates for the final selection. The merit list is cut for the required number and hence the marks of the last selected candidate is called as a cutoff mark. The Commission released the IAS result 2022 on May 23. Ishita Kishore secured Rank 1 in the Coveted Civil Service Exam 2022. Garima Lohia secured rank 2 in the exam. Uma Harithi N achieved rank 3 in the exam. & Subject to 10% marks in each of the seven competitive papers i.e. Essay, GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, GS-IV, Optional-I and Optional-II.

IAS cutoff 2022 defines the difficulty level of the exam. Low cutoff means the paper was difficult. IAS cutoff 2022 for the prelims exam is expected to remain low due to two reasons. First, the IAS prelims question paper was more difficult in comparison to the previous year and secondly, the number of vacancies is more than 1,000 this year which is the largest number in the recent past. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the official cutoff after the completion of the exam result. IAS prelims result 2022 was declared on June 22 mentioning the roll number of the candidates.

Shruti Sharma shared her strategy for IAS preparation. IAS cutoff is dependent on three important factors. The expected cutoff for the IAS 2022 (prelims) exam will be lower than the previous years. UPSC asked about the correctness of the number of options rather than giving options to the candidates. These questions will influence the overall cutoff of the IAS prelims exam. Going deeper into the paper, the candidates must see the subject-wise breakup of the paper with the difficulty level of the questions. The candidates can see the IAS exam analysis 2022 with questions breakup and video.

The candidates can read below the factors and conditions that influence the overall cutoff of the IAS prelims exam. It is very difficult to predict the cutoff of the Civil Service Examination at this point in time. But, based on the inputs coming from the candidates, the expected cutoff for the IAS prelims 2022 exam will remain around 85 to 95 marks. The candidates can check here the IAS cutoff of previous years as released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The official cutoff for the IAS 2022 exam will be released after the completion of the exam process.
