
BML Munjal University SoLS conversation witnessed three short films, i.e. The Land of Good Intentions, The Eternal Swamp, and The Price of Water (Jwoler Dor), showcasing powerful stories on water, development, and humanity’s bond with nature at the premises of the event period.
BML Munjal University’s School of Liberal Studies hosted SoLS Conversations at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The event was themed “The Second Battle of Kalkaji: Imagination and Storytelling”, brought together Nobel Prize-winning economist Abhijit V. Banerjee, noted graphic novelist and filmmaker Sarnath Banerjee, and National Geographic Explorer Arati Kumar-Rao.
The evening opened with the premiere of three thought-provoking short films — The Land of Good Intentions, The Eternal Swamp, and The Price of Water (Jwoler Dor) — weaving together personal memories and environmental concerns to reflect on water, development, and the human connection to nature.
Arindam Banerjee, Dean and Professor, School of Liberal Studies, BML Munjal University, said, “With SoLS Conversations, we aim to create spaces for dialogue in the world. This session brought together voices from across fields and practices to reflect not just on development and environmental questions, but on the story development of our understanding of them.”
The event further included a session on memory, displacement, ecology, and the role of imagination in understanding complex realities. The event also included scholars, students, experts, and the public, supporting SoLS Conversations as a platform for meaningful, interdisciplinary platform on cultural and ecological issues.
