
University of Delhi’s “freeze” option means students lock their allotted seat, while “upgrade” allows them to move to a preferred course–college choice in subsequent rounds.
The University of Delhi (DU) has confirmed a total of 68,116 undergraduate admissions so far in the ongoing admission cycle for 2025–26, following the completion of Upgrade Round 2 admissions.
As per to DU’s admission data, 17,595 applicants had applied for an upgrade of their allotted programme–college combination, of which 7,685 successfully received an upgraded seat in Round 2. At the same time, 46,257 applicants have chosen to freeze their seats, finalising their admission and opting out of further upgradation.
In addition, the Delhi University has reported 2,808 admissions through performance-based allocations and supernumerary quotas, which include categories such as sports, extracurricular activities, and special provisions.

With over 68,000 admissions confirmed till now against a total intake of around 71,000 undergraduate seats, the university is now nearing full capacity.
What’s Next
DU officials have indicated that further rounds will continue to accommodate students seeking better programme–college combinations, alongside fresh allocations in special categories. The applicants who have frozen their seats will not be eligible for any further upgrades.
