The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) exams held on January 7 and January 8 in Jammu have been cancelled. As per an official IGNOU statement, the exams will take place again on February 14 & 15. All the candidates who had signed up for the in-service teacher training programme in Jammu will have to appear for the exam. For the course, over 20,000 candidates had signed up and the exam is to be appeared by all the candidates. Exams have been cancelled for BES 128 and BES 129 papers.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was assigned the task to provide training to in-service graduate teachers in Jammu. The exam comes under the governmentโ€™s in-service teacher training programme.

For the time being, teachers who were a part of the exams held on January 7 & 8 have been complaining and protesting against the rescheduling of the exam. Some of the problems that teachers have been going through are irregularity in classes, availability of study materials and delay in releasing date sheets and hall tickets.

IGNOU informed that for the exams, candidates can take the exam with their old admit card. This is one of the many instances when candidates are compelled to appear for the exam again and again. This has been a problem with the exam conducting agency that needs to be addressed.
