As per the reports, a proposal note was also sent by the higher education department to the state cabinet and the cabinet, chaired by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, gave its nod. The portal is expected to be live after the announcement of the West Bengal Class 12th result.

The online portal will help candidates to apply to any government or government-aided college, unitary university, and state-aided affiliated university. There will be exemptions for autonomous colleges, minority educational institutions, training colleges, law colleges and self-financed colleges.

Last December, Education Minister Bratya Basu hinted that centralised UG admission will be rolled out in 2023. The cabinet nod comes in the backdrop of UGC’s efforts to rope in more colleges and universities under the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)  framework.
