The prelims exam of IBPS RRB is scheduled to be conducted on September 12, 13, 19, 20 and 26, 2020. In the wake COVID-19 pandemic, candidates have taken to twitter demanding the postponement of IBPS RRB 2020 prelims exam. The twitter has been flooded with the hashtag #IBPSRRBpostpone.

The number of COVID-19 cases in India has crossed 37 lakh. States such as Maharashtra, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, etc. are observing complete lockdown while states such as Uttar Pradesh, Assam, etc. have decided to continue with the weekend lockdown. Therefore, candidates are demanding to postpone the exam as it will become difficult for them to travel to their designated exam centres. Candidates are also demanding that IBPS should make necessary arrangements to help them reach their IBPS RRB exam centres.

An IBPS RRB aspirant, Soumen Bubai Dey, said, β€œIBPS RRB admit card is not yet released. In Kolkata, there is complete lockdown. So the condition is very critical to reach the venue.”

Another aspirant, Sourav Ghosh said, β€œIt will be very helpful if IBPS postpones the exam. The exam centres are mostly in rural areas therefore it will become difficult to get transportation.”

Another student Shrea Sanyal said, β€œWe want that the exam should be deferred to some other date.”
