Supreme Court of India directed the Union Government of India to not to publish the UPSC notification 2021 till the plea seeking extra attempt in the Supreme Court is not decided in the Apex court. The Supreme Court(SC) will hear the petition again on January 28. The SC gave another date so that the petitioner can reply to the Union Government's contention of not providing the extra attempt to the candidates having their last attempt and could not appear in the UPSC Prelims exam 2020. The centre is not talking about those candidates who suffered from the COVID-19 infection or the candidates who were in quarantine because of the infection.

Further, the centre said, that from June 1, the unlock guidelines were issued by the Ministry of Home wherein gradual relaxation with restriction were made for the public. In October 2020, Vth Phase of unlocking was in effect, resulting in the removal of most of the restrictions.
