Union Government is not in favour to provide an extra attempt to the corona warriors and COVID-19 patients in the IAS exam 2021.
The Government of India on January 22 submitted in the Supreme Court of India that it is not in the favour of providing an extra attempt to the candidates who could not appear in the UPSC IAS exam because of the COVID-19 related duties.
The Additional Solicitor General S V Raju submitted he was directed to inform the SC that the Centre is not in favour to provide an extra attempt to the candidates. He asked for more time to submit the affidavit in the highest court regarding the same.
SC Bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar noted the submission made by the Additional Solicitor General and asked the parties to appear before the court on January 25 to present their argument. The bench also directed the Centre to submit the affidavit in the meantime so that the court and other parties can consider their argument.

The group of students filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) for an extra attempt in the Civil Service (IAS) Exam 2021 for the candidates who were having the last attempt and working as corona warriors last year and did not appear in the IAS exam. The SC had admitted the plea in October and asked the Union Government to file its reply.
The IAS 2021 notification will be released on February 10 and the IAS Prelims 2021 will be conducted on June 27. The dates were provided in the UPSC exam calendar 2021.

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the UPSC IAS Prelims 2026 exam on May 24, 2026. The Commission will release the UPSC Civil Service Prelims Exam 2026 within a week from the exam on its official website - upsc.gov.in.

Yes, the UPSC IAS Notification 2026 was postponed due to administrative reasons. The Commission had released the notification on its official website - upsc.gov.in on February 4, 2026. The last date to apply online for the Civil Service (IAS) exam was February 27.
