BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) are both 5.5 - year medical UG degrees focusing on natural and alternative medicine.

Main difference is that BAMS uses traditional Indian Ayurveda (herbs, diet, Panchakarma) but BHMS uses German originated Homeopathy (highly diluted substances based on "like cures like").

A BHMS in India is worth pursuing if you are genuinely interested in homeopathy but it is not a direct substitute for an MBBS degree.

Candidates can see benefits below -

  • Natural and holistic healing is gaining popularity in India.
  • Easier to get into government colleges compared to MBBS.
  • You can start your own clinic, work in AYUSH hospitals or even work in pharmaceutical/research companies.
  • Generally less expensive than private MBBS seats.
  • You can make your income better with experience and specialisation (MD).

Hope it helped in solving your doubt! All the best!

Allopathy uses conventional and Science backed drugs and surgery to quickly treat symptoms.

Homeopathy treats "like with like" using highly diluted and natural substances to boost body's healing.

Naturopathy depends on natural therapies (diet, herbs, lifestyle) to fix root cause and prevent disease.
