There is no major disadvantage in pursuing g Aeronautical Engineering except following minor challenges:
(a) It is a sector specific branch of engineering thus scope is not as wide core branches of engineering such as Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical.
(b) Most of the jobs for Aeronautical engineers are in Government sector or Public Sector Organisations.
(c) Jobs in sector require more of research Aptitude as Technology changes in sector are very rapid.

It is recommended that you do B.Tech in India but MS abroad. IIT Powai is the option for doing B.Tech Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering. You can also evaluate PEC University Chandigarh and IIST. As per my analysis, IISc, Bangalore is the best place followed by IIT'S then NIT's then some private colleges. I am attaching a link that will give you all required information.

Hello Jay,
Unfortunately, such assessment has not been done by anyone and hence Institutions can not be compared. However, I feel any NIT would be better than other colleges.

Hello Manav,
As per my knowledge, presently in India, no Institute offers any course in weapons. There is of course regular course in Armed Forces but it's not open to civilians.

ISRO is not only launching weather, GPS, Defence, Communication etc satellites for India's needs but also has become outsourcing partner for launching these for western countries.
