AFCAT Pattern

The Air Force Common Admission Test, or AFCAT, consists of four parts, each with a different weight: 1. General Awareness: This section is the most weighted and often accounts for between 25% and 30% of the total marks. It includes current events, sports, history, geography, and general knowledge. 2. Verbal Ability in English: This section, which often makes up 20% to 25% of the overall score, consists of questions on English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and verbal reasoning. 3. Numerical Ability: This part, which makes up 15% to 20% of the total score, covers topics such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and numerical reasoning. 4. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: This section accounts for 15% to 20% of the total score and includes questions on spatial and logical reasoning.

The testing body establishes the AFCAT marking scheme. The marking scheme shows the points that candidates receive for right answers and the points that are subtracted for incorrect responses. The AFCAT exam is worth 300 total points. The following is the AFCAT marking scheme: Those who provide accurate replies receive three marks. For instance, out of 35 questions in the reasoning portion, candidates have properly answered 20 of them. They will receive sixty points. You will lose one mark for each incorrect response. As an illustration, of the 18 questions that candidates attempted, 15 of them were accurate, and three of them were not. Candidates will receive a score of 15x3-3=42. Unattempted questions do not result in a mark deduction from the examination authority.

AFSB or Air Force Selection Board is held for candidates qualifying the online test of AFCAT. The AFSB interview is conducted in three stages at different centres-Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar and Mysuru. At AFSB, candidates need to undergo the following tests: Stage-I: This stage comprises Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test on the first day. This is the screening stage and qualifying the test are called for subsequent rounds of AFSB. In the first stage, the documents of candidates are verified to ascertain their eligibility for the branch they have applied for. Stage 2: This stage is conducted for five days. The tests that are conducted in this stage are Psychological Tests, Group Tests, Interview and Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). The CPSS is conducted for Flying Branch and it is a once in a lifetime test.
